What is a composite deck?
Composite decks are engineered plastic decks that also contain natural fiber such as wood. In most composite decks, you can see the wood or natural fiber by looking closely at the surface of the deck. If you do not have a composite deck you may have a PVC deck. If you have a PVC deck then there are awesome products for Maximizing the Beauty™ of Your PVC Deck at www.deckmax.com.

Why did mold grow on my deck, and is my deck ruined?
Your deck is not ruined. Not by a long shot. There is a number of causes for mold, mildew or algae growth on the surface of a deck. As with anything outside, proper cleaning and care is required. If you are in a dusty area, high pollen area or simply have kids that can’t seem to keep their dinner off the deck, your deck is probably a candidate for biological growth. Biological growth is not a defect in your deck.

Why are there still dark spots on my deck? I followed your instructions precisely. Did I do something wrong?
No, you didn’t do anything wrong. What you are seeing is called ghosting or shadowing. This phenomenon happens when mold, mildew, algae, dirt, welcome mats, or other things, hide the deck underneath from sunlight, while the rest of the deck sees plenty of sunlight. It is kind of like putting suntan lotion on half of your arm and spending the day in the sun. Half of your arm will be protected and half becomes red or tanned. The good news if you have ghosting or shadowing on your deck is that it will slowly fade away, and blend in with the rest of your deck. Depending on the weather and how much mold, dirt, etc. was on your deck, it may only take a couple of weeks, or it could take several months.

How long with Resist Mist™ Last?
Resist Mist™ will last up to three full seasons. In areas that get a lot of traffic such as steps and walkways, a touch up application of Resist Mist™ may be needed.

Will Resist Mist ™ Protect My Deck From All Stains?
Resist Mist™, when applied as directed, will help resist many everyday stains and will make your deck easier to clean. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that it will prevent all future stains. Nature and children have a funny way of throwing things at all of us that we cannot plan for.

Is Resist Mist™ a Coating That Will Crack Or Peel Off?
No. In fact, after your deck dries, the only things you will notice are 1) water may bead up better on your deck; 2) you can go longer in between cleanings (we recommend cleaning once per season with Resist Mist Composite Deck Cleaner™) 3) That there is much less or no mold, mildew or algae build up on your deck and maybe even no mold, mildew or algae.

Will Resist Mist™ Change the Color of My Deck?
If a large amount of Resist Mist™ is applied to your deck it’s possible there could be a slight deepening of color. If you are concerned about any color shift we urge you to follow the dilution instructions and apply the solution to a small, inconspicuous area of your deck for testing.

Is Resist Mist™ Safe?
Resist Mist™ is water based and contains no harsh solvents. However, as with all cleaning and care products, you must keep children and pets away from the product and off the deck while it is wet or around open bottles. Unopened bottles should be stored in a cool place out of direct sunlight, and away from pets and children. It is very important to read the bottle and the MSDS.

Will Resist Mist™ Change the Color of My Pavers?
No. However, we always recommend trying some on a small area to ensure you will like the results.

Is it OK to pour left over Resist Mist™ or Resist Mist Composite Deck Cleaner™ into the water after I use it on my dock?
No. Keep all Resist Mist™ and Resist Mist Composite Cleaner™ out of the water as they may be toxic to fish.
